72nd Venice Film Festival Announces All Three International Juries

The selection is complete for the members of all three international Juries (Venezia 72, Orizzonti, “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for Best Debut Film) at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival (2-12 September 2015), directed by Alberto Barbera and organized by the Biennale di Veneziachaired by Paolo Baratta.[divider]

Venezia 72
The distinguished members of the Jury for the Venezia 72 Competition, in addition to the president, director Alfonso Cuarón, are:
· French author, screenwriter and director Emmanuel Carrère, author of several famous novels, including the bestsellers Limonov (2011) and Le Royaume (2015)
· Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival for
Kis uykusu (Winter Sleep)
· Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski, author of Ida, winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2015
· Italian director Francesco Munzi, in competition at the 71st Venice International Film Festival in 2014 with Anime nere, acclaimed by critics and winner of nine David di Donatello awards in 2015
· Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival in 1989 for A City of Sadness, and in competition at Cannes 2015 with The Assassin, which won the award for Best Director
· German actress Diane Kruger, who among her many international roles, played the character of Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds(2009) by Quentin Tarantino
· British director and screenwriter Lynne Ramsay, acclaimed by critics and nominated at the Golden Globe and Bafta awards for her film We Need to Talk about Kevin (2011)
· American actress and director Elizabeth Banks, star of the Spiderman and Hunger Games sagas, who made her directorial debut with the hit comedy Pitch Perfect 2
The Jury of Venezia 72 will award the following official prizes to the feature films in Competition:
Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lion for Best Director, Grand Jury Prize, Coppa Volpi for Best Actor, Coppa Volpi for Best Actress, “Marcello Mastroianni” Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress, Award for Best Screenplay, and Special Jury Prize.

Orizzonti
The members of the international Jury of the Orizzonti section, in addition to its president, American director Jonathan Demme, are:
· French director and screenwriter Alix Delaporte, in competition in Venice in 2014 with Le dernier coup de marteau (The Last Hammer Blow), for whichRomain Paul won the “Marcello Mastroianni” Prize
· Spanish actress Paz Vega, who rose to international stardom in 2001 for Lucia y el sexo (Sex and Lucia) by Julio Medem, thanks to which she won the Goya award for Best Debut Actress
· Hong Kong director Fruit Chan, twice in competition at the Venice Film Festival, with Durian Durian (2000) and Hollywood, Hong Kong (2001). In 2014 he directed The Midnight After, presented at the Berlin Film Festival.
· Italian actress Anita Caprioli, who among her many successful roles, starred in Immaturi (2011) and Corpo celeste (2011) by Alice Rohrwacher
The Jury of Orizzonti will award the following prizes, with no ex-aequo awards permitted: Orizzonti Award for Best Film; Orizzonti Award for Best Director; Special Orizzonti Jury Prize; Orizzonti Award for Best Actor or Actress; and Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film.

“Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for a Debut Film – Lion of the Future
The members of the international Jury ofthe “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for a Debut Film – Lion of the Future, in addition to its president, Italian director Saverio Costanzo, are:
· Hong Kong producer Roger Garcia, executive director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival since 2010 and a pioneer in the promotion and distribution of Asian cinema around the world
· French film critic and historian Natacha Laurent, director of the Cinémathèque de Toulouse for ten years until June 2015, an expert in Russian and Soviet cinema
· American director Charles Burnett, one of the most important independent American filmmakers, author of the cult film To Sleep with Anger(1990), winner of three Independent Spirit Awards

· Mexican journalist Daniela Michel, founder and director since 2003 of the Morelia Film Festival, the most important launching pad for young Mexican filmmakers.

The Jury will award, with no ex-aequo awards permitted, to one of the debut feature-length films from the various competition sections of the Venice Film Festival (Official Selection and Independent and Parallel Sidebars), the Lion of the Future – “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for a Debut Film, with a cash prize of 100,000 USD donated by Filmauro, to be divided equally between the director and the producer.
