74th American Cinema Editors (ACE) Eddie Awards: ‘Anatomy of a Fall,’ ‘The Holdovers,’ ‘Past Lives,’ ‘The Bear,’ ‘Succession’ Among Nominees
American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced today the nominations for the 74th Annual ACE Eddie Awards, recognizing outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries.
For theatrically released drama features the nominees are Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer and Past Lives. For the first time in ACE history four of the five drama nominees are women. On the comedy side are Air, American Fiction, Barbie, The Holdovers and Poor Things.
The Oscar nominations, announced earlier this week, don’t distinguish between comedy or drama and nominated Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer and Poor Things. Last year, ACE Eddie comedy winner Everything Everywhere All At Once went on to win the Oscar for editor Paul Rogers. Previously, they had not aligned since 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
In television, The Bear was a double nominee in comedy (for the guest star-heavy episodes “Fishes” and “Forks”) along with Barry, Only Murders in the Building and Ted Lasso and in drama Succession was a double nominee, alongside Ahsoka, The Last of Us and Slow Horses.
As previously announced, filmmaker John Waters will receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. Also previously announced, film editors Kate Amend, ACE and Walter Murch, ACE will receive Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing. Stephen Lovejoy, ACE will receive the Heritage Award for his unwavering commitment to ACE.
Winners of the 74th ACE Eddie Awards will be revealed on Sunday, March 3 at UCLA’s Royce Hall at a special brunch celebration and hosted by Drag Race contestant, performer and queer activist Nina West, fresh off her acclaimed performance as Edna Turnblad in the 2-year national touring production of Hairspray.
