Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) Astra TV Awards: ‘The Boys’ Has Strong Showing, Ayo Edebiri Nabs 3 Awards
Two nights after the Hollywood Critics Alliances gave out their awards to the best films of 2024, the critics guild had a ceremony tonight to honor the best of television of last year.
Succession took home multiple awards, including Best Actress in a Broadcast Network or Cable Drama Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Broadcast Network or Cable Drama Series for Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen, respectively. HBO’s drama also took home the awards for Best Writing and Best Directing. Other winners in drama included Pedro Pascal in Lead Actor in a Broadcast Network or Cable Drama for The Last of Us and Keri Russell for Lead Actress in a Streaming Drama for The Diplomat.
In comedy, Ayo Edebiri was the night’s big winner. She took home the awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Comedy for The Bear, Guest Actress in a Network Comedy for Abbott Elementary, and Writing for a Cable Comedy for her work on What We Do in the Shadows. Edebiri’s co-star from The Bear, Jeremy Allen White, took home the award for Lead Actor in a Streaming Comedy, with the series also picking up a win for series creator Christopher Storer’s writing. Party Down and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel both took home awards for Series, the former for Cable and the latter, Streaming.
Niecy Nash-Betts found herself in the winners circle for the Supporting Actress in a Streaming Limited Series category for Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, with co-star Evan Peters taking home the win for his lead performance in the series. Ali Wong won Lead Actress in a Streaming Limited Series for Beef, the series that also won Streaming Limited Series. Over on the Broadcast Network or Cable side of things, A Small Light nabbed the win.
