TRAILER: Jake Gyllenhaal Gets Ripped in the ‘Southpaw’ Trailer

2014 was a pretty good year for Jake Gyllenhaal with Enemy and Nightcrawler, the latter of which netted him Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations for Best Actor. 2015 looks to be even better with the mountain climbing adventure Everest, the drama Demolition (from Jean Marc Valleé) and the summer release Southpaw, which dropped its first trailer today and it’s a ripped and raw piece to behold. In the film, Gyllenhaal plays Billy “The Great” Hope, the the reigning Junior Middleweight Boxing Champion. After a tragedy he descends into a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol and must fight to keep his family together. The film also stars Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris, 50 Cent and Rita Ora.

Southpaw is set for release July 31, 2015.
