Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Nominations: ‘Kneecap’ Dominates with 10 Nods
Nominations have been revealed for the 2025 Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Awards where the Oscar-shortlisted Irish comedy Kneecap dominated with 10 nominations including Best Film, Best Director and for the trio of lead actors who play themselves in the film.
The Cillian Murphy drama Small Things Like These has nods including Best Screenplay, Lead Actor for Murphy, and Best Film among its six mentions. Other Best Film nominees include Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, Kathleen is Here (six nominations), King Frankie, and Spilt Milk.
Paul Mescal also received a Best Actor nomination for his role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II alongside Murphy, the Kneecap trio and Peter Coonan for King Frankie.
In Best Actress, Saoirse Ronan is nominated for The Outrun alongside Carolyn Bracken for Oddity, Jessie Buckley for Wicked Little Letters, Hazel Doupe for Kathleen Is Here, Eileen Walsh for Small Things Like These, and Alisha Weir for Abigail.
In the International categories, Best Film nominees are: Anora, The Brutalist, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, The Outrun, and The Substance.
For Best International Actor the nominees, including several Oscar hopefuls, are: Adrien Brody for The Brutalist, Timothée Chalamet for A Complete Unknown, Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave, Sebastian Stan for The Apprentice, and Denzel Washington for Gladiator II.
For Best International Actress we have: Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Angelina Jolie for Maria, Mikey Madison for Anora, Demi Moore for The Substance, Florence Pugh for We Live in Time, and Emily Watson for Small Things Like These.
The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) will hand out its awards on February 14 at a ceremony at the Royal Convention Centre in Dublin.
