6th Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) Awards: ‘Frankenstein,’ ‘Hamnet,’ ‘One Battle After Another’ Take Top Honors

Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another and Wicked: For Good have won the feature film awards at the 6th Set Decorators Society of America’s SDSA Awards, which were announced today via YouTube.
Hamnet won in the period film category,,One Battle After Another won for contemporary film, Frankenstein in fantasy or science-fiction film and Wicked: For Good in comedy or musical feature. Frankenstein, Hamnet and One Battle After Another are Oscar-nominated in the production design category alongside Marty Supreme and Sinners.
One Battle After Another won the award for Best Picture, a category open to all films. Previous winners there since the category began two years ago have been A Complete Unknown and Poor Things.
Since the SDSA began in 2020, one of its winners has gone on to take the Academy Award for Production Design four out of the five times, with the SDSA’s period-film winner winning the Oscar twice with the fantasy and comedy/musical winner each earning one. The exception was 2023 when Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Matilda the Musical and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent won the SDSA’s awards, while All Quiet on the Western Front surprised and won the Oscar.
The Art Directors Guild (ADG) will have their say next week when they give out their awards on February 28. Here is the full list of winners and nominees.
