TCM Film Festival to Honor Glenn Close with Hand and Footprint Ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) today announced that Academy Award-nominated actress Glenn Close will be honored with a Hand & Footprint Ceremony at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Friday, May 1, 2026, as part of the 2026 TCM Classic Film Festival.
One of the most acclaimed and versatile performers of her generation, Close has captivated audiences for decades with a career spanning film, television and stage. Known for her unforgettable performances in films such as Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, The Big Chill and Albert Nobbs, Close has earned eight Academy Award nominations and has won three Golden Globe Awards, three Emmy Awards and three Tony Awards.
As part of the festival, Close will present a special screening of Dangerous Liaisons (1988), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
The Hand & Footprint Ceremony, a cherished Hollywood tradition, celebrates artists who have made a lasting impact on the film industry. Close will join an esteemed group of legends whose imprints have been preserved in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre, one of the most famous landmarks in movie history.
“To this day, I can remember the first time I saw Glenn Close on the big screen. Though her film debut came a year earlier in The World According to Garp (for which she earned her first Oscar nomination), I’ll never forget seeing her in The Big Chill, delivering a memorably layered performance that revealed the extraordinary talent, intelligence and emotional depth that have defined her career ever since,” said Ben Mankiewicz, TCM Primetime Host and Official Host of the TCM Classic Film Festival. “More than four decades later, she continues to captivate audiences—from her earliest roles to powerful later performances like The Wife—and we are proud to honor her enduring legacy at this year’s festival.”
The 2026 TCM Classic Film Festival will take place in Hollywood from April 30 through May 3, 2026, celebrating the enduring power of classic cinema through screenings, special events and appearances by legendary talent.
The festival will open with a presentation of Barefoot in the Park, directed by Gene Saks. Two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda will attend to introduce the film and honor her friend and co-star, the late Robert Redford, with a special tribute celebrating his extraordinary legacy and enduring impact on American film.
