‘The Traitors’ Tops 8th Critics Choice Real TV Awards with 5 Wins
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) today revealed the winners for the eighth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which recognizes excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
The Traitors led the winners, earning five awards overall including Best Competition Series, and Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series. Alan Cumming won Best Show Host for the third year in a row, while Lisa Rinna and Rob Rausch were recognized as Female Star of the Year and Male Star of the Year, respectively.
Love on the Spectrum followed with two wins. For the second year in a row, the show won both Best Unstructured Series, and Best Relationship Show.
Two categories saw ties with Best Structured Series going to Couples Therapy and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, while Best Culinary Show was shared between The Great British Baking Show and Top Chef.
Peacock was the most awarded network of the evening, topping five categories (all for The Traitors), followed by Netflix with four wins.
The Critics Choice Real TV Awards were launched in 2019 as a large-scale awards platform to give the robust unscripted genre critical attention and support. The awards celebrate programming across platforms, and also recognize industry leaders with special awards highlighting career achievements.
Blue-ribbon nominating committees made up of Critics Choice Association members with expertise in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming determined the nominees. Winners were chosen by a vote of the CCA membership.
