New Trailer for Inspirational ‘He Named Me Malala’ from Fox Searchlight
The new trailer for the Fox Searchlight doc He Named Me Malala from Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) is here and it’s an inspirational and moving thing of beauty and a clear frontrunner for the Documentary Feature Oscar. There’s also a strong shot for the Alicia Keys song “Story to Tell” to be nominated.
On the afternoon of 9 October 2012, Pakistani women and girl’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. In critical condition for days, she emerged stronger than ever and became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in history at age 17. Ironically, Malala was named so by her father after an Afghan warrior who died in battle.
He Named Me Malala opens in theaters on Oct. 2nd. To contribute to the Malala Fund and be a champion for girl’s education, please visit malala.org.
