2017 Oscar Predictions: THE SCREENPLAYS (August)

Silence remains atop the Best Adapted Screenplay chart and the top four remain the same since the last update in June. Sully rounds out the top 5 but by a very slim margin against the dual #6 films, Lion and Love & Friendship.
Original Screenplay is a bit of a different story in that June’s #1, Loving, tumbles to 4th place and Manchester by the Sea is the new #1 by a healthy margin against the new #2, La La Land. The Birth of a Nation moves up one spot but a big 10 points in the process and Moonlight tumbles a bit due to still no word from A24 on a release, festival showing or even a first look. On the other side, A24’s 20th Century Women is starting to make a move here and I predict it will end up in the top 5 next month.

Since Moonlight and Una are both based on plays, shouldn’t they be considered adapted screenplays?
Moonlight is an unpublished play so it should qualify as an Original Screenplay. Una, however, should be in Adapted. Thanks for the catch.
