2016 Napa Valley Film Festival to Feature Awards-Heavy Slate Including Lion, 20th Century Women

The 2016 Napa Film Festival, kicking off November 9th, has set up quite an impressive slate of big awards contenders including Lion, 20th Century Women, Elle, and Miss Sloane, which closes the festival on the 13th. The wine country festival is in its 6th year.
The Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) is an immersive, sense-awakening celebration of the finest in cinematic story-telling dedicated to the notion that the best of humanity lies ahead of us.
At NVFF, each year’s most outstanding new independent films are washed down with world-class food and wine, tucked into bed each night with sublime hospitality, and greeted each gorgeous morning with opportunities to deepen the bonds between artists and audience. NVFF16 takes place November 9 – 13.

The 20 films in NVFF’s core competition categories will vie for the titles of Best Narrative Feature and Best Documentary Feature, as determined by the juries. The directors of these films participate in NVFF’s unique Artists-in-Residence Program that includes a six-night stay at the luxury resort Meadowood Napa Valley. The residency includes master classes with industry leaders and networking opportunities with their peers and festival patrons at lavish receptions and winemaker dinners. Past Faculty for the Artistsin-Residence Program have included composer Carter Burwell, writer-director Atom Egoyan, producer Nicolas Gonda, producer Ted Hope (Amazon Studios), indie film distributor Kevin Iwashina, producer Michael de Luca, executive producer John Sloss (Cinetic Media) and producer Christine Vachon (Killer Films).
The highly anticipated Celebrity Tributes, saluting the highest level of cinematic achievement by established players and rising stars, returns to the Lincoln Theater in Yountville on Thursday, November 10 as part of the festival’s line-up of special events. The festival will salute Zoey Deutch (Everybody Wants Some!!, Why Him?) and Glen Powell (Everybody Wants Some!!, Hidden Figures) as Domaine Chandon Rising Stars. Chloe Grace Moretz (The Equalizer, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) will receive the Raymond Vineyards Trailblazer Tribute. This year’s program will be hosted by Access Hollywood’s Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover who will conduct intimate on-stage conversations with the honorees after presentations of film clips from each honoree’s work.
