The dreamy first trailer for Pawel Pawlikowski’s Cannes-winning ‘Cold War’

Amazon has revealed the first trailer for one of the most visually striking films of the year, Pawel Pawlikowski’s Cold War, for which he won the Best Director prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Cold War is a passionate love story between a man (Tomasz Kot) and a woman (Joanna Kulig) who meet in the ruins of post-war Poland. With vastly different backgrounds and temperaments, they are fatefully mismatched and yet condemned to each other.
Review: Pawel Pawlikowski’s bleak and beautiful ‘Cold War’
Set against the background of the Cold War in 1950s Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, it’s the tale of a couple separated by politics, character flaws and unfortunate twists of fate — an impossible love story in impossible times.
The film is Poland’s submission for the Foreign Language Film Oscar. Pawlikowski’s last film, Ida, was also Poland’s FLF submission and won the Oscar in 2014.
Amazon Studios will release Cold War on December 21, 2018.
