Violence is a girl’s best friend in first trailer for ‘Birds of Prey’

Spunky, funky and punky best describes the first trailer for Birds of Prey, starring Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) as Harley Quinn, getting her own spinoff from 2017’s Suicide Squad, who sits firmly between Madonna in Who’s That Girl and Lori Petty in Tank Girl with her New Yawk via Gotham accent and feisty demeanor.
After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Renee Montoya (Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez) to save a young girl (Ella Jay Basco) from an evil crime lord (Ewan McGregor). Ali Wong and Chris Messina co-star in the Cathy Yan-directed film, written by Christina Hodson, based on the DC Comic created by Chuck Dixon, Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Greg Land.

Birds of Prey hits theaters February 7, 2020 from Warner Bros. Here’s the first trailer.
