First Trailers for ‘The Imitation Game’ (UK and US versions)
The first trailers for one of The Weinstein Company’s big Oscar horses this year, The Imitation Game, have landed. The Weinstein Company acquired the film for a record-breaking $7 million, the highest ever amount paid for US distribution rights at the European Film Market.
The official synopsis:
THE IMITATION GAME is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.
The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar nominee Keira Knightley (Pride and Prejudice), Matthew Goode (A Single Man), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) and Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty). It is directed by Morten Tyldum from a screenplay by Graham Moore. It will be released in the US November 21, 2014. UK version:
