‘Titane,’ ‘Spencer,’ ‘Mass’ top 3rd DiscussingFilm Critics Association awards
Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog was the Best Motion Picture prize winner from the 3rd DiscussingFilm Critics Association awards today (as well as several runner-up mentions) but it was Julia Ducournau’s Titane, Pablo Larraín’s Spencer and Fran Kranz’s Mass that were the big winners today, as each took four major awards.
Ducournau was named Best Director and her film also won Supporting Actor for Vincent Lindon, Debut Performance for Agathe Rousselle (who was also the Best Actress runner-up) and International Film. Spencer was the winner for Best Actress (Kristen Stewart), Best Film Editing (Sebastian Sepulveda), Best Cinematography (Claire Mathon) and Best Use of Music for “All I Need is a Miracle.” Mass found its wins in Original Screenplay and Debut Feature Film for Fran Kranz, Best Film Ensemble and Best Independent Film.
Dune was another multiple winner, with three, for Best Sound, Best Score and Best Visual Effects. Andrew Garfield was named Best Actor for tick, tick…BOOM! and Ariana DeBose was named Best Supporting Actress for West Side Story.
