FINAL 2022 Emmy Nomination Predictions: The LIMITED SERIES categories
The competition in the limited or anthology series categories is anything but limited, crossing through drama, comedy, real-life stories, true crime, not too unreal fantasy and too real reality.
In recent Emmy years, the streamer/cable battle for dominance has been between HBO (and HBO Max) and Netflix but this year Hulu (with FX) should lead, especially in these categories. Our predictions in the major limited or anthology series or movie categories put Hulu at 25 nominations, with HBO at 18 and Netflix way back at only 7, with just Maid as their main push and best chance to score.

While Tyler and Erik are deadlocked on who the top 5 contenders for outstanding limited or anthology series are, they do find differences and deviations elsewhere, even if it’s trying to figure out which ‘First Lady’ will get into lead actress, one of the toughest of any Emmy category this season.
FINAL 2022 Emmy Nomination Predictions: COMEDY SERIES categories
All signs are pointing to the potential for Hulu to not only lead here but to be fighting against itself in with Dopesick and The Dropout poised to earn multiple nominations in the same acting categories, most especially in supporting. One of the big questions in this section is if the star power of Academy Award winners Julia Roberts and Sean Penn can pull in nominations for Gaslit. On another cable or streaming network it would seem like a no-brainer but Starz, who released the limited series, has never been a great Emmy player, even when they’re campaigns were rock solid.
Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, July 12 by JB Smoove, Melissa Fumero and Television Academy chairman and CEO Frank Sherma, live on emmys.com at 8:30 a.m. PST.
