TIFF47: ‘WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story’ to world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Midnight Madness section
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced today that The Roku Original Film WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe, will have its world premiere at the festival as a part of the Midnight Madness section.
Directed by Eric Appel and written by Appel and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic himself, the film tells the rise of one of the most unlikely, and successful, comedians and parodists of all time. ‘Weird Al’ rose to fame for his parodies of #1 hits like “Like a Surgeon” and “Eat It,” garnering him worldwide fame, five Grammy Awards four gold records, and six platinum records. His first top ten Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single (“White & Nerdy”) were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career.
Featuring an all-star supporting cast that includes Emmy nominee Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Rainn Wilson (The Office), Emmy winner Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown) and Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story will debut Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:59pm as a part of the festival’s eclectic Midnight Madness section.
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story will be available exclusively on The Roku Channel November 4, 2022.
