The 70th ACE Eddie Awards were handed out last night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and Parasite shocked by winning the guild’s prize for Best Edited Feature (Drama).
Jinmo Yang (read our interview here) won the Best Edited Feature (Drama) category for Parasite over Ford v Ferrari, Joker, The Irishman. They are all also nominated for the Film Editing Oscar. The win marks the first time in ACE Eddie Awards history that a non-English language film has won the top prize. Yang is also the first first-time nominee to win since Bob Murawski and Chris Innis for 2009’s The Hurt Locker, who then went on to win the Oscar.
Jojo Rabbit (editor Tom Eagles) won the Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy) category, besting Dolemite Is My Name, The Farewell, Knives Out and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Jojo Rabbit was the only film in the category to also be Oscar-nominated for Film Editing.
Toy Story 4 (edited by Axel Geddes) won Best Edited Animated Feature Film and Apollo 11 (edited by Todd Douglas Miller) won Best Edited Documentary (Feature).
