The Safdie Brothers (Good Time) go Scorsese in their newest film, Uncut Gems, a crime thriller which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival to raves, especially for star Adam Sandler, in his best role since Punch Drunk Love.
Sandler stars as Howard Ratner, a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
The film co-stars Kevin Garnett, Idina Menzel, Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Eric Bogosian and Judd Hirsch. A24 will release Uncut Gems on December 13.
