The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) announced today that it will hold its 37th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards Gala on March 5, 2023. Last year’s winner for theatrical film, Dune, went on to win the Oscar for Greig Fraser.

Recognizing excellence in cinematography, the ASC Awards honor the extraordinary work of directors of photography who have excelled in the art and craft of visual storytelling in feature films, episodic television and documentaries. Traditionally held at the ASC Clubhouse in Los Angeles, this year’s ceremony will be held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., and live streamed worldwide.

To be eligible for an ASC Award, a theatrical feature film must have a release date between January 1 – December 31, 2022. The deadline for theatrical feature film entries is December 5, 2022.

For all TV categories, a show must air or stream between December 1, 2021 – November 30, 2022. The deadline for television submissions is November 28, 2022.

Eligible documentaries would need to release or air between January 1 and November 20, 2022. The deadline for documentaries to be submitted is October 31, 2022.

The ASC will also bestow a Spotlight Award. ASC members nominate and vote on winners in this category.

Honorary awards, including the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award and Board of Governors Award, will also be presented at the awards ceremony.
