Universal Pictures has debuted the trailer and poster for Angelina Jolie Pitt’s latest directorial effort, By the Sea. She also wrote the film that co-stars husband Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Melvil Poupaud and Niels Arestrup.
Evoking a sun-kissed 1970s vibe, and it is in fact set in the 70s on the French Riviera (but was filmed in Malta), the films tells the story of Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, as they travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner.
It remains to be seen if the film will be an Oscar contender. Currently, Universal just has Steve Jobs and Legend to push for awards season so we could see a campaign.
Universal Pictures will release the film on November 13th.
