AwardsWatch’s Best Films of 2013

Onto 2014, where we will look forward to many new releases coming out this year. AW has taken this opportunity to provide staff member’s top ten films of last year. We know these lists don’t mean anything, it’s just a bit of fun. That’s why we’re doing it, that and its our inaugural best of list.

After looking at everyone’s list, Blue is the Warmest Color proved to be the most popular film featuring on seven out of nine lists, three staff members had it as its #1. Frances Ha and Inside Llewyn Davis (two #1’s!) were closed behind appearing on six lists. The Great Beauty was #1 choice for Evan and Kenneth, but failed to appear on anyone else’s list. the Despite being a big awards contender, Gravity only made one list.

12 Years a Slave was a huge hit for critics, making 458 lists; 116 top spots, and yet only appeared twice here, and didn’t make any #1 spots. Frozen was featured on 59 critics lists, but no AW staff members included any animated films in their lists. However, we did seem to love Spring Breakers as it showed up in five of our lists and also appeared in 168 critics lists; 15 top spots.

Enjoy, and feel free to drop a line in the comment section with your thoughts. You can also head over to the forums for a more detail discussion.
