The British Academy of Film and Television Arts have selected the key dates and timeline for their 2024 film awards.

The 75th BAFTA Film Awards will take place on Sunday, February 18, 2024, three weeks before the Oscars and once again during the Berlin Film Festival, which runs February 15-25, 2024.

“First held in 1949, the BAFTA Film Awards have grown to become one of the biggest events in the global film calendar,” BAFTA said. “2024 will mark the arts charity’s 75th awards dedicated to film. The 2023 edition was watched by a peak of 3.8 million people nationally via BBC One – the show’s highest ratings since 2019, and over nine million views of BAFTA social content from the night, alongside broadcasting internationally.”

Round one of voting, which will decide the longlists from which final nominations will be derived, begins December 8, 2023 with longlists revealed on January 5, 2024. From those lists, nominations voting begins immediately with the finalist announcement on January 18, five days before Oscar nominations.

Last season’s BAFTA Film Awards took place February 19, 2023 where Netflix dominated with the Edward Berger-directed All Quiet on the Western Front scoring seven wins, including Outstanding Film, Director, Film Not in the English Language, Cinematography, and Adapted Screenplay. The German WWI saga would go on to win four Oscars: Original Score, Costume Design, Production Design and International Feature Film. Searchlight Pictures’ The Banshees of Inisherin from Martin McDonagh earned 10 BAFTA nominations and won four, including Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, and the Supporting Acting categories, but went home empty-handed at the Oscars.
