With a third of the Berlinale Competition already behind us, here’s where the competition stands on the Screen International Jury Grid:
Isle of Dogs leads
Wes Anderson’s daring, dark and marvelous film leads the poll with a very good 3.1 score, remaining unchallenged so far with 6 films screened. (We gave it an A)
Transit disappoints
Transit, the early frontrunner for the Golden Bear, disappoints with a measly 2.2 score. If it still ends up winning the Golden Bear, it will be one of the lowest reviewed films in years. (We gave it a B)
The Heiresses surprises
The Heiresses, a fantastic drama from Paraguay, remains the stand out surprise of the festival so far. The film seems to be among the least divisive films so far. (We gave it a B+).
Damsel and Eva are almost panned
Damsel and Eva, two high profile films expected to be at least decent, are at the bottom of the list with a paltry 1.4 and 1.2 respectively.
