Beyoncé Leads 2014 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations with 8, Eminem and Iggy Azalea with 7
Beyoncé leads all nominations this morning for the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards with three videos, “Drunk in Love,” “Partition” and “Pretty Hurts” spread out over multiple categories for eight nominations, including Video of the Year. Also competing for video of the year: Pharrell William’s Oscar-nominated mega-hit single “Happy,” Sia’s “Chandelier,” Miley Cyrus’ massive video hit “Wrecking Ball” and Iggy Azalea’s recent Billboard Hot 100 #1 “Fancy.”
Azalea was right behind Bey with seven nominations herself, including for her collaboration with Ariana Grande (“Problem”) and Eminem lead the men with seven nominations as well, including his collaboration with Rihanna (“Monster). Two breakouts stars made a dent in the awards this morning; Sia, who just grabbed this week’s #1 album on Billboard is up for Video of the Year and crooner Sam Smith nabbed nominations for Male Video and Artist to Watch.
The 2014 VMAs will air live on Aug. 24 from the Forum in Inglewood. Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer have been announced to perform, with additional talent yet to be named.
