‘Black Panther,’ Deadpool 2,’ ‘A Star Is Born,’ ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ top Hollywood Music in Media Nominations

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, which recognizes music in film, TV, video games, commercials, and even trailers, announced their nominations today. Among the nominated films getting the most recognition were Black Panther and Deadpool 2 with four mentions each, A Star Is Born and Mary Poppins Returns with three.

The ceremony will feature presentations, performances, and an as-of-yet unnamed special achievement award. Past honorees have included Diane Warren, Smokey Robinson, and Glen Campbell.

Nominations are selected by an advisory board and selection committee which includes journalists, music executives, music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, and performing rights organizations.

The 2018 awards will be held at the Avalon Hollywood on November 14th with a portion of proceeds benefit Education Through Music – Los Angeles.
