‘Black Panther,’ ‘Mary Queen of Scots,’ HBO’s ‘Succession’ among Hollywood Music in Media Awards winners

Black Panther topped the Hollywood in Music Media Awards last night with three big wins: Original Score – Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror for Ludwig Goransson, Original Song – Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror for “All the Stars” and Soundtrack Album. 

Max Richter’s score for Mary Queen of Scots won the top award of the night, Original Score – Feature Film and “Shallow” from A Star Is Born won Original Song – Feature Film. A Star Is Born also won the music supervision award for film. 

On the television side, Nicholas Britell’s Succession won Original Score – TV Show/Limited Series while Carlos Rafael Rivera won Main Title Theme for Godless

The Hollywood Music in Media (HMMA) recognizes and honors the music of visual mediums (film, TV, movie trailers, video games, commercials, etc.), the talented individuals responsible for creating, producing and placing it and the music of artists, both mainstream and independent, from around the globe. HMMA is the first music awards event to recognize and honor excellence in music supervision.

Previous winners in the group’s top film award, Original Score – Feature Film, include Oneohtrix Point Never for Good Time, Nicholas Britell for Moonlight, Dan Romer for Beasts of No Nation and Antonio Sanchez for Birdman
