‘Black Panther,’ ‘Stranger Things’ Lead MTV Movie and TV Awards Nominations

The 2018 MTV Movie and TV Award nominations have been announced and Black Panther leads the movie side with seven, including Best Movie, while Stranger Things dominates television, including Best Show, with six. While the top categories are separate others are integrated like Scene Stealer and Best Kiss.

A few Oscar nominees broke into the heavily pop-cultured group of mentions today – Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) for Best Performance in a Movie. The group is continuing its commitment to non-gendered categories so there are no ‘Best Male’ or ‘Best Female’ awards.

Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman, Riverdale and Jane the Virgin found their way to nominations as well.

The 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards will be held in Los Angeles on June 18th and hosted by Tiffany Haddish, a nominee for Best Comedic Performance and Scene Stealer for her breakout star turn in the hit Girls Trip.
