Casting Society (CSA) today announces the film nominees for the 38th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of Casting Professionals to film, television, theatre and commercials. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Elvis, Bros, and Glass Onion were among the big budget nominees in drama and comedy while Emily the Criminal, Catherine Called Birdy, The Banshees of Inisherin and The Whale were among the lower budgeted films nominated.
Several high-profile casting directors earned two nominations, including Lucy Bevan – Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical and The Batman, Kim Coleman – Tilland Emergency, Sarah Halley Finn – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Everything Everywhere All At Once, Christi Soper Hilt – The Bad Guys and Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Avy Kaufman – Tar and Montana Story Bernard Telsey – Better Nate Than Ever and The Same Storm and Natalie Lyon and Kevin Reher – Lightyear and Turning Red. Earning three nominations apiece were Ellen Chenoweth – Deep Water, The Survivorand Causeway, and Mary Vernieu and Bret Howe – Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,The Menuand The Whale.
The group’s Zeitgeist Award “celebrates the casting team whose work captured our collective imaginations and helped create the year’s defining cultural moments.” Those nominees are Avatar: The Way of Water, The Batman, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Scream (2022) and Top Gun: Maverick.
First held in 1985, the Artios Awards honors Casting Professionals in more than 20 different categories encompassing film, television, theatre and commercials. In addition, special honorees are selected for their contributions to the craft. Nominees and winners are voted on by members of the Casting Society.
The winners will be revealed on Thursday, March 9, 2023. The in-person celebration will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Here is the full list of nominations.
