Casting Society Artios Awards nominations for television, shorts and theatre: ‘Hacks,’ ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show,’ ‘I May Destroy You’ and more
Netflix leads with 11 nominations, as Bridgerton, The Kominsky Method and The Queen’s Gambit earn nods
The nominations for the Casting Society of America’s 37th Artios Awards for Here are the 37th Artios Awards nominations for television, shorts, shortform, non-theatrical film and theatre were announced today.
The nominees in the Television Series – Drama category are The Boys, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Mandalorian, Pose and This Is Us. The Comedy Series nominees are A Black Lady Sketch Show, Call My Agent, Pen15 and three series that wrapped their runs this year: The Kominsky Method, Shrill and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. At the Emmys The Crown and Ted Lasso won the casting award.
The nominees for Television Pilot or First Season – Drama are Bridgerton, Ginny & Georgia, Lovecraft Country, Perry Mason, P-Valley and Your Honor. The TV Pilot or First Season hopefuls for Comedy are The Flight Attendant; Girls5Eva; Hacks; Love, Victor; and Ted Lasso.
In light of American theatre going dark during the pandemic, the CSA created a new Artios category called Virtual Theater where the nominees were Art, Duchess! Duchess! Duchess!, Manic Monologues, Sweat and Tennessee Williams’ The Night of the Iguana.
Netflix led the nominations with 11 mentions, almost twice the number for HBO and Hulu, which earned six apiece. Disney+ was next with four, followed Amazon Prime Video and Nickelodeon, which grabbed three apiece. Nominees in the feature film categories will be announced on January 31, 2022 and winners will be awarded during the CSA’s in-person trophy show on March 17 at the Beverly Hilton.
Honorees for the Hoyt Bowers Award for Excellence In Casting, Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement, Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award, Rosalie Joseph Humanitarian Award and the Associate Spotlight Award will be announced at a later date.
