Casting Society Reveals 39th Artios Awards Nominations for Television, Theatre and Shorts

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Fire Island, The Bear, Jury Duty, Yellowjackets among nominees

Casting Society (CSA) today announced the television, theatre, commercials, short film and short form series nominees for the 39th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of Casting Professionals in these categories. The winners will be announced at the gala on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

Submissions for feature film nominees will open on November 10th and nominees will be announced in February 2024.  Honorees for The Hoyt Bowers Award For Excellence In Casting, Lynn Stalmaster Award For Career Achievement, Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award, and the Associate Casting Director/ Casting Producer Spotlight Award will be presented that evening. The honorees will be announced at a later date. 

“Each year, the Artios Awards celebrates the work of the casting community to represent a diverse range of fascinating stories authentically, and this collection of nominees underscores that commitment. We look forward to gathering our community together to celebrate these achievements at our 39th Annual event next year,” said Destiny Lilly, CSA President.

First held in 1985, the Artios Awards honors Casting Professionals in more than 20 different categories encompassing film, television and theater. In addition, special honorees are selected for their contributions to the craft. Nominees and winners are voted on by members of the Casting Society.

In the television categories, Netflix leads with eight nominations. HBO/Max, Apple TV+ and Prime Video each have five. The full list of nominations are below.

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself in film school and the film forums of GoldDerby, and then migrated over to the former Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), before breaking off to create AwardsWatch in 2013. He is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, accredited by the Cannes Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and more, is a member of the International Cinephile Society (ICS), The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics (GALECA), Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) and the International Press Academy. Among his many achieved goals with AwardsWatch, he has given a platform to underrepresented writers and critics and supplied them with access to film festivals and the industry and calls the Bay Area his home where he lives with his husband and son.
