The first thing you see is the traditional blue/green/yellow of Focus Features’ opening titles are dripping in deep, rich reds and oranges. It begins a mood that permeates the trailer for Tom Ford’s second feature film, Nocturnal Animals. As with Ford’s first film, A Single Man, the visuals here are striking and sensual. Amy Adams’ emerald green dress, Laura Linney’s hair up to heaven, the mid-century architecture. The mood and feeling Ford creates is a unique aesthetic and one that worked well for him with A Single Man. Starring Academy Award nominees Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Shannon, Nocturnal Animals is a darker, more sinister bit of love, cruelty, revenge, and redemption.
