Cinema Audio Society (CAS) nominations: ‘Black Panther,’ ‘First Man,’ ‘Ozark,’ ‘Mrs. Maisel’ and more

The Cinema Audio Society (CAS) has announced its nominations for outstanding sound mixing in motion pictures and television.

In Motion Picture, the nominees were: Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man, A Quiet Place and A Star Is Born.

A Star Is Born continues its reign as the only film to hit every industry and guild so far.

If you’re looking for Oscar correlation, the last time CAS and Oscar’s Sound Mixing matched up 5/5 was 2003. Since 2009, these films were CAS-nominated and then Oscar snubbed: Wonder Woman, Doctor Strange, Sully, The Hateful Eight, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Zero Dark Thirty, Hanna, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Super 8, Black Swan, Shutter Island and District 9..

The film nominated instead were: Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, 13 Hours, The Revenant, Whiplash (Oscar winner), The Hobbit, Argo (Best Picture winner), Life of Pi, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Transformers 3, War Horse, The King’s Speech (Best Picture winner), True Grit, and Inglourious Basterds.

In Television, we have The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ballers, Ozark, Mozart in the Jungle and Westworld among the nominees.
