The sound team from The Revenant won the motion picture live action feature category at the Cinema Audio Society’s 52nd annual awards for sound mixing on Saturday, besting heavy favorites Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It did the same at BAFTA last week and heads into the Oscars a favorite now in the Sound Mixing category. Since 2008, the CAS and the Oscars have aligned in this category 5/8 times and in those other three years the Oscars sided with the BAFTA winner. That’s basically double assurance for The Revenant here.
Inside Out won the motion picture animated prize.
On the television side Game of Thrones, Fargo and Modern Family won the series awards and Lincoln Center’s performance of Danny Elfman themes from Tim Burton films also won.
