Amazon Studios’ Coming 2 America, the long-awaited sequel to the Eddie Murphy hit, dominated the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAH) awards tonight, sweeping all three of its categories: Best Contemporary Make-Up, Feature-Length Motion Picture, Best Special Make-Up Effects, Feature-Length Motion Picture and Best Contemporary Hair Styling, Feature-Length Motion Picture.

The film bested its direct Oscar competition like Dune, The Eyes of Tammy Faye and House of Gucci, all of whom went home empty-handed tonight. Cruella, also an Oscar nominee, won for Best Period and/or Character Make-Up, Feature-Length Motion Picture while Being the Ricardos, which failed to earn a spot on the makeup and hair Oscar shortlist, won for Best Period Hair Styling and/or Character Hair Styling, Feature-Length Motion Picture.

Double wins were the name of the game in television, where Pose, The Kelly Clarkson Show and Danger Force earned two wins. Saturday Night Live was the big television winner with three.

Several special honors were also handed out including the Distinguished Artisan Award to Jon Favreau presented by Ming Na Wen and 706 Make-Up Artist Maria Sandoval, the Vanguard Award to Christina Smith presented by Milla Jovovich and the Chair Award to Doug Jones presented by Sonequa Martin-Green. The org’s Lifetime Achievement Awards went to Michèle Burke – Lifetime Achievement for Make-Up presented by producer Paula Wagner and Joy Zapata – Lifetime Achievement for Hair Styling presented by Producer Lauren Shuler-Donner.

The 2022 MUAHs were held at the Beverly Hilton and hosted by Melissa Peterman, with COVID protocols in place. The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild partnered with VOW, a top US government-contracted vendor for health and safety protocols at public events requiring all guests needed to be fully vaccinated and provide a COVID test.

Here is the full list of winners of the 2022 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAH) awards.
