Critics' Choice Television Awards: 'Schitt's Creek,' 'This Is Us,' 'When They See Us' lead nominations

After earning Emmy street credit last summer, PopTV’s Schitt’s Creek pulled in a field-best five nominations this morning at the Critics’ Choice Awards announcement, including Best Comedy Series, Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Catherine O’Hara) and Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Eugene Levy), for the series’ 5th installment. Its final season airs in January 2020.

NBC’s This Is Us also earned five nominations on the Drama side, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series (Sterling K. Brown) and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Assante Blackk).

For Limited Series, Netflix’s When They See Us was the big nominee, with six, including Limited Series, Actor in a Limited Series (Jharrel Jerome), two for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (Marsha Stephanie Blake and Niecy Nash) and two for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series (Assante Blackk and John Leguizamo).

Netflix has earned 61 nominations across their series and films.  HBO received 33 nominations, followed by Amazon with 14, and NBC with 12.  Several programs received a total of 4 nominations including Barry (HBO), Chernobyl (HBO), Fleabag (Amazon), Fosse/Verdon (FX), Game of Thrones (HBO), The Crown (Netflix), The Good Fight (CBS All Access), Unbelievable (Netflix), and Watchmen (HBO).

The 25th Critics Choice Association (CCA) will be revealed at the Critics’ Choice Awards gala, which will once again be hosted by film, television, and stage star Taye Diggs, and broadcast live on The CW Television Network on Sunday, January 12 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm ET (delayed PT).
