After cracking the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards and the Writers Guild, Deadpool has hit the PGA, the Producers Guild of America. It might come as a surprise to most but the film was made for a shockingly low budget for a Marvel superhero film ($60 million) and earned over $360 million in the US alone.

Elsewhere, the expected presence of Oscar frontrunners like La La Land, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight showed up. Martin Scorsese’s Silence was again a no-show.

The five nominees in the animated feature category are: Finding Dory, Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, The Secret Life of Pets and Zootopia.

As previously announced, the PGA will also honor Loving (Stanley Kramer award), Megan Ellison (Visionary award), Irwin Winkler (David O. Selznick achievement award in theatrical motion pictures), James L. Brooks (Norman Lear achievement award in television) and Tom Rothman (Milestone award).

The 28th Producers Guild of America (PGA) awards will take place on January 28th at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
