The Denver Film Critics Society (DFCS) has revealed its nominations for the best in film for 2021 and The Power of the Dog leads the pack with seven mentions, including Best Movie, Director and Adapted Screenplay for Jane Campion, Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch and Best Supporting Actor for Kodi Smit-McPhee. Dune was next with six nominations including Movie and Director with Belfast, Drive My Car and Spider-Man: No Way Home rounding out the group’s Best Movie lineup.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the 8th highest grossing movie of all time, having subverted all box office obstacles set by COVID and its new variants, and is also nominated for its visual effects and for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Film.
King Richard earned four nominations, including Best Actor for Will Smith and Best Supporting Actress for Aunjanue Ellis while other films earned three mentions, including Flee, which is nominated for Animated Film, Documentary Film and Foreign Language Film.
