Everyone deserve a chance to celebrate in the full trailer for the musical extravaganza ‘The Prom’

Just before you sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, Netflix has dropped the full trailer for their upcoming holiday release The Prom, starring Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman as theater stars and tells the story of two girls (newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman and Tony Award nominee Ariana DeBose) who want to go high school’s biggest dance but are thwarted by their conservative Indiana townspeople.

In the film, Dee Dee Allen (Streep) and Barry Glickman (Tony Award winner James Corden) are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan (Pellman) is experiencing a very different kind of heartbreak: despite the support of the high school principal (Emmy Award winner Keegan-Michael Key), the head of the PTA (Emmy Award winner Kerry Washington) has banned her from attending the prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa (DeBose). When Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma’s predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images, they hit the road with Angie (Kidman) and Trent (Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells), another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift. But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is.

Featuring choreography by Casey Nicholaw, The Prom is directed by Emmy Award winner Ryan Murphy and co-stars Emmy Award winner Tracey Ullman, Kevin Chamberlin, Mary Kay Place, Nico Greetham Logan Riley, Nathaniel J. Potvin and Sofia Deler. The screenplay is by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, adapted from the award-winning, Tony-nominated Broadway musical. It is produced by Ryan Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, Adam Anders, Dori Berinstein and Bill Damaschke, and executive produced by Eric Kovtun, Doug Merrifield, Casey Nicholaw, Chad Beguelin, Bob Martin, Matthew Sklar, Todd Nenninger, Scott Robertson.

The Prom will be in select theaters in December and on Netflix December 11, 2020.
