Before Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the star of one of this year’s biggest box office doc hits (RBG) and before she became the second woman on the US Supreme Court she fought, and won, a groundbreaking sexual discrimination case before the U.S. Court of Appeals and overturned a century of gender discrimination. 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of RBG on the bench.

Oscar nominee Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) stars as Ginsburg as she goes from law student to law clerk to meeting her husband Marty (Armie Hammer), her stalwart companion and support throughout her career.

The film was directed by Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Peacemaker) and written by Daniel Stiepleman. It co-stars Sam Waterston and Justin Theroux.

Focus Features will release On the Basis of Sex in limited release this Christmas and wider in January. Here is the trailer.
