FINAL 2024 Oscar Predictions: COSTUME DESIGN and PRODUCTION DESIGN

We should see several films double up here, like Barbie, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon after earning all precursors in the respective fields of costume and production design.
Napoleon has been a stealth below the line performer among the guilds and the Oscar shortlists and for costume design it also hit the BAFTA longlist, Costume Designers Guild and Critics Choice over both Maestro and Oppenheimer and it could upset one or both of them. The costume guild loves its names and films that feature costume and clothes-making, often making it a sole nomination from a film. The closest we really have to that this season is Barbie and it’s already a frontrunner.
Production Design is an impossibly rich tapestry with again Barbie, Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon being very strong frontrunners for a nomination spot and leaving two really up for grabs among Oppenheimer, Maestro, Napoleon, Asteroid City, Wonka, Beau Is Afraid and even possibly the 2006-set Saltburn.
The two categories rarely match up 5/5 but 4/5 is possible but who falls off? After that top 3 it’s anyone’s game.
Oscar nominations will be announced on January 23 and the 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10. Here are my final 2024 Oscar nomination predictions in Costume Design and Production Design.
