The NASA mathematician drama Hidden Figures details the African-American math geniuses that were instrumental in the success of the space race in the 1960s. Leading the way was Katherine Johnson, played by Oscar and Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Empire). The story intersects seminal turning points in U.S. history including the Cold War, the civil rights movement and the quest for gender equality.

The Fox 2000 film, directed by Ted Melfi (St. Vincent) also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Mahershala Ali. It’s set for wide release January 13, 2017 with an expected awards-friendly limited release in December 2016.
