We have your first look at Oscar winner Christian Bale, who reunites with Scott Cooper for his new film Hostiles, which will be part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Special Presentations section next month.
Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain (Christian Bale) who, after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back home to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow (Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike) whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape, hostile Comanche, and vicious outliers they encounter along the way.
The film also features Jesse Plemons, Peter Mullan, Ben Foster, Stephen Lang, Q’orianka Kilcher and Timothée Chalamet (who also has Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird at TIFF this year). It has a technical crew of the highest caliber as well with Oscar winner Tom Cross (Whiplash) as its editor, Oscar winner Donald Graham Burt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as its Production Designer and music by Max Richter.
Hostiles is currently without U.S. distribution at this time. Here is your first look (click image for larger version).
