Focus Features has released the first look at Blue Bayou, from actor/writer/director Justin Chon (Gook), in which he stars with Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander.

In the clip, “He’s an American,” Antonio LeBlanc (Chon), a Korean adoptee raised in a small town in the Louisiana bayou, is married to the love of his life Kathy (Vikander) and step-dad to their beloved daughter Jessie. In a conversation with a lawyer, played by Vondie Curtis Hall, LeBlanc finds out he has been in the United States undocumented for over 30 years. Struggling to make a better life for his family, he must confront the ghosts of his past when he discovers that he could be deported from the only country he has ever called home.

Blue Bayou will world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival before debuting in theaters on September 17 from Focus Features.
