Searchlight Pictures has released the first teaser for Chloé Zhao, Nomadland starring two-time Academy Award winner Frances McDormand and Academy Award nominee David Strathairn in a story that will no doubt speak to a huge part of America in the current economic downturn we’re in the middle of.

Nomadland follows the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, Nomadland features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.

Nomadland is an Official Selection of the Telluride Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival.

Searchlight Pictures will release Nomadland in theaters December 4, 2020.
