Frontrunner Friday Oscar Predictions: The Calm Before the Storm (2/6/26)
All is quiet on the western front this week with no changes across the board in the rankings from last week but that could all change tomorrow night as the Directors Guild of America (DGA) will be the first major guild of the season to have their say and, in doing so, potentially set the course for the next five weeks.
As stated in my DGA Awards predictions yesterday, whose voting ends later today, I think Paul Thomas Anderson will be the victor for One Battle After Another. Already the widely predicted winner there, it’s a path that would put him historically on the road to Oscar success as well. A win for Sinners‘ Ryan Coogler, however, would be an actual game changer, as well as history-making. Then we’ll have something to talk about.
