‘Get Out’ Tops Washington DC Critics; Gary Oldman and Christopher Nolan Nab Their First Wins
The Washington DC Area Film Critics Association has named Get Out their best film of 2017. Writer/Director/Producer Jordan Peele also picked a win for his original screenplay.
It was also the first wins of the season for Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) in Best Actor and Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk) in Best Director. Each entered this awards season as frontrunners in their respective categories but had not earned any individual critics’ wins until today. Other big winners today were Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Post and Coco.
Blade Runner 2049 was the biggest winner today with three awards: Original Score, Production Design and Cinematography and The Shape of Water, which went in with the most nominations ended up with zero wins.
