Netflix has released the first teaser for The Deliverance, from Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels (Precious) and starring Academy Award nominees Andra Day, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Glenn Close, and Academy Award winner Mo’Nique.

In the film, which is inspired by a true story, Ebony Jackson (Day), is a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons and moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children in a genre-defying take on darkness, possession, and finding a higher power.

Written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum, The Deliverance is produced by Lee Daniels, Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen and Todd Crites, executive produced by Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker and Gregoire Gensollen and co-stars Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps and Caleb McLaughlin.

The Deliverance will be in select theaters on August 18 and on Netflix August 30.
