Gold Rush Gang: Screen Actors Guild Nominations Predictions

The 20th Screen Actors Guild Award nominations are upon us and the Gold Rush Gang has spoken. While our group agreed on many things, there is some heated disagreement as well. Most of us have a solid four for the Cast in a Motion Picture category and every single one of us are in 100% agreement on five Male Actor in a Leading Role being Dern, Ejiofor, Hanks, McConaughey and Redford.. That kind of symmetry and sureness can only spell disaster in the form of a shocking snub and surprise inclusion. Could Leonardo DiCaprio or Michael B. Jordan break the ranks? What about Christian Bale? If he were to sneak in, how many nominations would American Hustle be able to muster? Five? Six if voters go crazy and put the whole cast in. But, that number has never happened before so we’re not counting on it.

Female Actor in a Leading Role is a near consensus, with the group agreeing on four of the possible nominees and Judi Dench and Amy Adams fighting it out for that fifth slot. Female Actor in a Supporting Role is the same, four solid and that fifth slot up for grabs for either Julia Roberts or Octavia Spencer. The category that really has the Gang divided is Male Actor in a Supporting Role. No less than eight names get mentions there with only Michael Fassbender and Jared Leto finding full support. Bradley Cooper seems safe with eight votes here. The rest are a smattering of votes for Barkhad Abdi, Harrison Ford, Will Forte and James Gandolfini.

Check out the full breakdown of who voted for whom below and check out the forums for the Gold Rush contest before the deadline on Wednesday, December 11 at 4:00am PST. Nominations are announced at 5:50am PST.
