Today the Recording Academy announced the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards nominations will take place on Tues, Nov. 23, 2021.

The 63rd GRAMMY Awards, in lieu of an audience due to the coronavirus pandemic, had four performance stages that were a mix of live and pre-recorded sets and be made up of performers, nominees and guests, all of whom were regularly tested for COVID-19. A fifth stage was used by the show’s presenters, some of whom were venue personnel from the Apollo in New York, the Station Inn in Nashville, and the Troubadour and Hotel Café in L.A.

The Recording Academy has also made several changes for the upcoming awards including a big change for Album of Year, where now all credited artists (including featured artists), songwriters of new material, producers, recording engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers are eligible to be GRAMMY nominees and recipients in the Album Of The Year category. Previously, the rule stated that all artists, songwriters, producers, recording engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers were required to be credited with at least 33 percent or more of playing time. The latest amendments are in addition to the previously announced changes in April, which included the discontinuation of nomination review committees, the reduction in the number of categories voters may vote and the addition of the Best Global Music Performance and Best Música Urbana Album categories, among other updates.

Last year, Taylor Swift made GRAMMY history when she won Album of the Year for “folklore,” one of her two 2020 albums, making her the first woman ever to win that category three times. Beyoncé won her 27th career Grammy, tying Allison Krauss for the all-time record.

The 2022 awards return to the Los Angeles STAPLES Center on Monday, January 31, 2022 and will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET / 5-8:30 p.m. PT.
